Finnfloat Sauna Raft

Finnfloat Sauna Raft

Finnfloat Sauna Raft is a floating Finnish-style sauna and day spa based near the Müggelsee in Berlin’s Friedrichshagen district. It combines Nordic wellness traditions with eco-conscious design, offering private sauna experiences on a scenic lake surrounded by nature. The concept blends sauna culture, mindfulness, and sustainable tourism.

Concept and Experience

Finnfloat operates as a mobile sauna raft, allowing guests to enjoy a Finnish sauna session while floating on the water. The experience is designed for small groups—typically two to eight people—and emphasizes relaxation, natural materials, and tranquility. Packages include aromatherapy infusions, herbal foot baths, honey or berry peelings, and even overnight “saunaglamping” under the stars on the raft’s rooftop deck.

Design and Features

The raft’s design follows Scandinavian minimalism, using sustainable wood and organic materials. It includes a wood-fired Harvia sauna stove, panoramic windows overlooking the lake, a cozy lounge area, and an eco-toilet. Guests can unwind on the upper sun deck equipped with loungers and blankets. The vessel is equipped with both a small petrol and an auxiliary electric motor for quiet movement on the water.

Philosophy and Sustainability

Founded by Rebecca Lang and Sami Bill, Finnfloat embodies their Finnish-German vision of holistic health and nature-connected living. The operation uses locally sourced firewood and vegan, handmade spa products. Their approach promotes ecological mindfulness—“less is more”—and encourages guests to reconnect body and mind through sauna rituals inspired by Lapland traditions.

Notability

As Berlin’s first floating Finnish sauna, Finnfloat has gained recognition for introducing authentic Nordic sauna culture to the city. It is often highlighted by local tourism platforms such as visitBerlin as one of the capital’s most distinctive wellness attractions, offering year-round relaxation on the water.
