Löyly

Discover Löyly — Helsinki's Iconic Waterfront Sauna
Perched on the edge of the Baltic Sea in Hernesaarenranta, Löyly is not just a place to sweat — it is a carefully composed experience of architecture, design, food and the elemental ritual of Finnish bathing. A modern, wooden landmark where city life meets the sea.
Iconic Waterfront Architecture
Designed to sit low against the shore, Löyly's sculpted wooden volumes and slatted facades reference traditional Finnish timber craft while speaking a distinct, modern language. From inside they frame expansive sea views, natural light and wind-swept skies.
Smoke Sauna & Traditional Finnish Sauna
The smoke sauna (savusauna) is a slow, deep, aromatic experience. The room fills with soft smoke while the stones heat slowly; when the smoke clears it leaves behind a distinctive, fragrant warmth. Sessions are limited and highly prized. The traditional Finnish saunas deliver classic dry-hot heat with soft steam in clean, minimal interiors.
Sea Swimming & the Hot-Cold Ritual
A large outdoor terrace steps directly down to the Baltic Sea. The combination of hot sauna and cold sea plunge is immediate and elemental — a bracing dip after a sauna round that sharpens the senses. A quintessentially Nordic ritual.
Restaurant & Nordic Dining
Löyly's restaurant focuses on seasonally driven Nordic cuisine with local ingredients. The dining room and terrace offer panoramic sea views and a relaxed yet elevated atmosphere — the perfect way to complete the bathing ritual.
