Lempee Sauna Oy

The drive from Tampere took less than half an hour, winding through flat fields and patches of birch forest. I arrived at Lempee Sauna in Lempäälä's Mäyriä area just as the afternoon light softened over Pyhäjärvi lake. The place felt tucked into nature, with the recreational area stirring back to life after years of quiet.
Wooden buildings blended into the shoreline, built from massive timber that seemed to grow out of the landscape. I parked near the sauna house and walked down a path lined with young pines. The air carried a faint scent of lake water and earth.
Stepping into the First Sauna
Inside the sauna building, separate changing rooms led to wash areas with showers. I changed quickly and picked one of the two saunas, both styled differently but sharing wide windows onto the lake.
The heat rose gently as I settled on the bench. Steam built from the stove, and I could see the water sparkling outside, unbroken views across Pyhäjärvi. After a while, I stepped out to the cold plunge nearby, the chill biting into my skin before I hurried back for more warmth.
A hot tub waited outside too, bubbling under the open sky. I soaked there briefly, watching birds skim the lake's surface. The setup encouraged that cycle: heat, cool, repeat.
Exploring the Shore After
Once I felt done with the saunas, I dried off in the relaxation room, where a fireplace crackled in the lounge. A bar area offered drinks, and I grabbed something simple before heading out.
The surrounding Mäyriä recreational area invited a walk. I followed a nature trail along the forest edge, passing fire pits and a frisbee golf course. The beach sloped gently into the lake, perfect for a quick swim if the weather held. Barbecue spots dotted the grounds, though I skipped them this time.
Nearby, the cabins caught my eye: small, two-person units with full glass walls facing the water. They looked like they dissolved the line between inside and out, ideal for watching the sunset from bed. I didn't stay overnight, but the thought lingered as I wandered back through the trees.
The Lounge by the Fire
Back inside, the cafe served light snacks, and I sat in the lounge with its panoramic views. The space felt open yet cozy, with the fire warming the air as evening approached.
People came and went, some locals chatting quietly, others like me just taking in the quiet. The whole visit stretched a couple of hours, enough to unwind amid the lake and woods.
As I left, the path led past more of the area's features: a ball field quiet in the dusk, and the promise of more trails to explore next time.
