Ringsted Sportscenter

The autumn chill hung in the air as I pulled up to the sports center in Ringsted. This town sits in the heart of Zealand, with its flat landscapes and quiet neighborhoods. I had heard about the new communal sauna tucked between the pool area and the gymnastics hall, so I timed my visit for a Tuesday afternoon session.

Inside, the space felt open and inviting, with room for up to 42 people. Two large sauna ovens hummed steadily, much like the ones in the nearby swimming section. I paid the 80 DKK at the desk and headed in, ready for the warmth.

The sauna session lasted about 30 minutes, and it started right on time at 14:30. I found a spot on the wooden benches, surrounded by a mix of locals chatting softly. The heat built gradually from the ovens, wrapping around me like a blanket.

As the aufguss began, steam filled the room, carrying a subtle, earthy scent. The view through the windows caught my eye: green sports fields stretched out behind the center, dotted with trees turning gold in the fall light. It added a peaceful touch to the rising temperature.

Sweat beaded on my skin, and the group fell into a quiet rhythm, breathing deeply.

When the session wrapped up, I stepped out to the outdoor area. Cold showers waited there, promising that sharp chill after the heat. I turned on the water, and it hit me hard, sending a jolt through my body.

The contrast sharpened everything: the lingering warmth inside against the crisp air. Nearby, the pool area buzzed with swimmers, but out here it felt more private, with just the fields in sight. I lingered for a moment, letting the water run.

After drying off, I walked back through the center, thinking about the regular schedule. They offer these aufguss on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with times like 19:30 in the evenings too. It made me consider planning another visit on a weekend.
