Hällsnäs Spa

The drive from Gothenburg took only a few minutes, and soon I was pulling up to Hällsnäs Hotel on the edge of Lake Landvetter. It was a crisp autumn afternoon, with leaves turning gold along the peninsula. I had booked a room as part of a relax package, which gave me full access to the spa area. The place felt like a quiet escape, blending hotel comforts with the raw pull of nature.
I started in the pool lounge, where an indoor pool sat next to a cozy bar. The water was warm, and I swam a few laps while looking out at the lake. It was a good way to ease into the day before heading outside.
Stepping onto the Floating Sauna
The floating sauna bobbed gently on the water, wood-fired and simple in its build. I climbed aboard and felt the heat rise from the stove. The air inside carried a faint woody scent, and I settled on a bench as the temperature built.
Sweat came quickly in that close space. I stayed for a while, letting the warmth sink in. Outside, the lake stretched wide, dotted with trees on the far shore. It was peaceful, with only the soft lap of water against the sides.
When I stepped out, the cool air hit my skin. I walked back along the jetty, ready for what came next.
The Dip from the Pier
Two outdoor hot tubs waited near the water's edge, both kept at a steady 38 degrees, even in the chill. I slipped into one, the bubbles easing any leftover tension. The view was open, straight across the lake, with the hotel's relaxation house nearby.
After soaking, I felt bold enough for a wild swim. The pier led right into the lake, and I jumped in. The cold gripped me hard, but it woke me up in the best way. I swam out a bit, then hurried back to warm up in the hot tub again.
Later, I tried the infrared sauna in the relaxation house. It was quieter there, with a panoramic feel from the windows. The session left me relaxed, ready to head back to my room.
Lingering in the Lounge Area
Back inside the pool lounge, I grabbed a drink from the bar and sat in one of the chairs. The space had a calm vibe, with spots to just sit and watch the water outside. It tied the whole visit together, mixing the outdoor thrills with indoor ease.
As the sun dipped lower, I thought about how the spa wove nature right into the experience. The hotel sat on that peninsula, making everything feel connected to the lake. It was a solid spot for a day of unwind, close enough to the city but far from its rush.
