Blaud Sauna

Blaud Sauna

Blaud Sauna is a floating public sauna located at Nodeviga 45 in Kristiansand, Agder, Norway. Opened in June 2024, it represents a modern Nordic wellness concept that combines traditional sauna heat with refreshing cold dips in the sea. As one of southern Norway’s southernmost floating saunas, Blaud has quickly become a local wellness and social destination.

Concept and Experience

The sauna offers both private and shared sessions, inviting guests to book the entire sauna for themselves or join others in a communal setting. The experience centers on contrast therapy—alternating between intense heat and cold seawater immersion—which is valued for its invigorating and relaxing effects. The unisex floating structure is equipped with basic facilities such as a simple changing area and an outdoor freshwater shower, promoting a minimalist, nature-close atmosphere.

Design and Operation

Blaud Sauna floats permanently moored in the harbor area of Nodeviga on Odderøya. Built for up to twelve guests, it is powered electrically and emphasizes sustainable materials and low environmental impact. Alcohol consumption and diving are prohibited, reflecting the venue’s focus on safety and mindfulness. The project was founded by Tor André Gjesteland, who drew inspiration from Scandinavian cold-bath culture experienced during studies in Sweden.

Community and Expansion

Operated by Blaud AS, the business has also been selected by Kristiansand kommune as one of the private providers contributing to the city’s emerging sauna strategy, which aims to expand accessible, environmentally conscious bathing spots. The brand has extended its identity through apparel and merchandise, further integrating into the city’s coastal lifestyle.
