Aquarama Spa

The sea breeze carried a salty tang as I walked along Bystranda, the beachfront in Kristiansand. Summer light lingered late into the evening here in southern Norway. I headed to Aquarama Spa through the entrance at AQ Bad, where the changing rooms sat on the first floor.
After changing, I stepped into the spa area. The place felt open and clean, with options that promised to mix heat and cold for better blood flow. I noted the age limit was sixteen, which kept things calm and adult-focused.
Trying the Eucalyptus Room
I started with the eucalyptus sauna. The air inside carried that sharp, clean scent, said to help with breathing and clear out mucus. I sat on the wooden bench as the warmth built, feeling it ease into my muscles.
Sweat came slowly at first. The antiseptic quality of the eucalyptus made the session feel purifying. After about ten minutes, I stepped out, ready for a contrast.
Next door, the salt air sauna waited. Its misty atmosphere opened up my airways, a gentle shift from the eucalyptus intensity. I lingered there, letting the salt work its way into my lungs.
The Cold Plunge After Steam
From the steam sauna, where the humid heat opened my pores, I moved to the hot sauna. There, the dry heat pushed sweat out, cleansing away impurities. My skin tingled as the temperature rose.
Then came the cold plunge. I dipped into the chilly water, a shock that tightened everything up. Right after, I tried the experience showers: Ice Rain felt like a brisk downpour, while Tropical Rain offered a warmer mist. Alternating like that got my circulation going strong.
Foot baths dotted the area, and I soaked my feet in one, warming them before heading to the pools. The health pool, a good-sized rectangle at twelve and a half by eight meters, held steady at thirty-four degrees. I floated there, relaxed.
Ending with a Warm Soak
The lying pool, called Kilden, also sat at thirty-four degrees. It invited reclining, with space to stretch out in the water. I lay back, letting the warmth seep in after the cold dips.
Showers stood nearby for rinsing off. I heard about treatments at AQ Velvære, like massages and skin care in their new rooms, but I stuck to the saunas and pools this time. As I left, the evening air off the beach felt refreshing against my flushed skin.
The spa tied into the coastal vibe of Kristiansand, blending indoor heat with the nearby sea.
